About the Dutchess County SPCA
The DCSPCA is located on Violet Avenue (Rt. 9G) in Hyde Park, NY.

It is the mission of the DCSPCA to rescue and provide temporary humane shelter for the abandoned, neglected and abused companion animals of Dutchess County.

When a stray pet is taken to the DCSPCA, it is checked for identification through tags, tattoos and scanning for a microchip. If the pet has identification, Shelter staff will make every attempt to reunite owner with pet. The owner will be required to show proof of ownership, a license for the pet (if it is a dog) and pay a boarding fee. If the owner does not claim their pet in 10 days, it may become available for adoption.

If the pet has no identification, the pet is held for 5 days after which time it may become available for adoption.

Many cats look alike so if your cat is missing, it would be helpful for you to visit the DCSPCA on a regular basis as you are the best one to identify him/her.

It is also important you call or visit the Shelter on a regular basis, at least twice a week, in the event your pet is brought there and becomes available for adoption. Please be aware that should your pet be adopted by another family, it may be very difficult to get it back.
